Raag Bhairav evokes moods of serenity, solemness, and contemplation. The traditional time for performing this raga is around sunrise. The raga belongs to the Bhairav thaat. Its vadi (most important note) is dha, and samvadi (second most important note) is re. Raag Bhairav's aaroh and avroh (ascending & descending scales) are as follows:
