Compositions in Raag Sindhura

Raag Sindhura has a light and joyful mood and is often used for Hori compositions. Apart from being performed during the Holi season, it is also performed during the monsoons. This raga belongs to the Kafi thaat. Its vadi (most important note) is S', and samvadi (second most important note) is P. Raag Sindhura's aaroh and avaroh (ascending & descending scales) are as follows:

Scale: Sindhura

Below is a simple composition (bandish) in Raag Sindhura.

1. Baajat taal mridang

This composition is a hori. I am not sure who the composer is. Hori songs are traditionally sung around the time of Holi. This particular composition describes the joyful scene of celebrations in Braj, with the women singing gari to the beats of the mridanga while playing Holi with Krishna.
